Sorry folks, we are aware of the fact  that some of the terms are still a bit strange, and some buttons are too short to accomodate the whole instruction.

We do have a solid plan to improve the situation, please bear with us for the time being.

I don't understand why folks use relatively hard to work with filetypes like powerpoint and pdf files for information they want to share.

That being said, thanks, I just happened to be trying to answer someone asking for English language help.

That big pdf help file is the one that really needs to be converted to and displayed in html and also translated into english.

If the big pdf help file was online in html, at a site that doesn't require that one be logged in with a username and password to see, then Google could do a machine translation, which is a lot better than than nothing.

It the google machine translation of the hypothetical chinese html help file was placed into a wiki then the flaws in the machine translation could be corrected by both bilingual and monolingual users.

Is there any way to get a copy of that pdf file converted into HTML?

The Hipihi company could probably just open the file in the program they used to create it in and select "Save As HTML" or "Export to HTML" or some such extremely easy command.

If it was available in HTML then it becomes much much easier to translate using a computer translation service. The Chinese text could appear in the Zoho wiki, and it would not be too awfully hard to copy the text, translate it using Google language tools, and paste the translated version back into the wiki. Then, since it's a wiki, and thus editable, the user community can further edit the Google translated version.

This would be a low cost, low effort way for the Hipihi company to provide non-Chinese speakers a guide on how to use Hipihi without having to pay to the translation done.

The permissions on the Help file are set such that we can't even annotate the file. An uneditable, un-annotatable PDF is about the least useless format a document could possibly be produced in. The PDF format is primarily intended for printing, for providing a means to print documents with accurate results on a variety of output devices.

A help file for a virtual world does not need to be to be in a format designed to provide portable accurate results when printed, it needs to be in form designed to be easy to use and read in a web browser, and it would be most useful if it was presented in the form of a user editable wiki, a wiki with a WYSIWYG editing mode to make it as easy as possible for users, who for the most part aren't familiar with wiki formatting codes, to edit.

So consider this a request to the Hipihi company to provide the help information in the form of a wiki with a WYSIWYG edit mode.

Also consider this a request for the Hipihi company to make available the original of the PDF help file, in whatever format it was originally produced in, with permsissons set to allow editing, whether it was created in Word or some Adobe program or whatever the original might be.

I came to the forum here today in response to a question about how to upload textures. I have uploaded textures, but I've forgotten how. I found an instruction on how to upload flash, which says it's just like uploading textures, just click on the '"Upload" button. Unfortunately I can't read the Chinese text on the buttons, so the instruction to click on the "Upload " button is not real useful.

I wasn't trying to upload anything myself, just trying to answer the question someone in this forum asked. It's understandable that the Hipihi company is using its resources to design and improve the program instead of translating the documentation, but there is no reason at all that the documentation can't be provided in a form that would make translating it orders of magnitude easier at virtually zero cost to the Hipihi company.
